Sofi The Odditty on Style, Self-Expression, and Her ‘Top Fashion Creator’ Nomination at the Snappys

Manhattan Avenue

Mar 20, 2026

In conversation with Manhattan Avenue, the rising digital voice reflects on fashion as identity, confidence, and creative power.

In a fashion landscape increasingly shaped by digital culture, influence is no longer dictated solely by runways or traditional gatekeepers. It lives in real time - on screens, in movement, and in the hands of creators who understand how to translate personal style into cultural impact. Among this new wave is Sofi The Odditty, who has been nominated in the Top Fashion Creator category at the Snapchat Snappys Awards - an acknowledgment of a style voice that feels as bold as it is instinctive. The Snappys, Snapchat’s creator-focused awards ceremony, celebrates emerging voices across fashion, beauty, and digital culture. The inaugural event will take place on March 31, 2026, at Snapchat’s headquarters in Santa Monica, California, bringing together creators who are shaping influence and self-expression on the platform.

Sofi’s nomination speaks to something larger than fashion alone. It reflects a moment where authenticity is the new luxury, and where personal expression carries more weight than perfection. Her approach to style exists in that space - fluid, expressive, and unapologetically her own. To understand the woman behind the aesthetic, we spoke with Sofi about her relationship with fashion, her inspirations, and what it truly means to dress with confidence.

Q&A: Sofi The Odditty on Style, Identity & Expression

Q: How did your love for fashion begin, and what draws you to style in your everyday life?

A: My love for fashion started really young. Fashion was one of the first ways I learned how to express myself before I even had the language for everything I was feeling. As someone who has always been a little bold, a little different, and very expressive, style became a way for me to take up space and tell a story without saying a word. In my everyday life, I’m drawn to fashion because it lets me play. It lets me shift between softness, edge, glamour, confidence, and creativity depending on who I am that day. Getting dressed feels like stepping into my power and I love taking risks - from going topless as Laolu's muse at the 2021 VMAs to rocking Nigerian designers front row at Lagos Fashion Week.

Q: How would you describe your personal style, and how has it evolved over time?

A: I’d describe my personal style as expressive, elevated, playful, and confident. I love looks that feel feminine but strong, polished but still effortless, and always a little unexpected. Over time, my style has evolved from trying trends to really understanding what feels like me. Now I dress with much more intention. I’m less interested in wearing what everyone else is wearing and more interested in wearing pieces that make me feel powerful, beautiful, and fully myself.

Q: Who or what inspires your fashion choices - designers, eras, cultures, or personal experiences?

A: A lot inspires me - culture, travel, music, women who are unapologetically themselves, and my own personal evolution. As a Nigerian woman, I’m naturally inspired by boldness, color, texture, glamour, and presence. I also love fashion that feels cinematic, whether it’s old Hollywood elegance, ’90s confidence, or modern street style with a luxury twist. A lot of my fashion choices are also inspired by where I am in life emotionally. Sometimes I want to feel soft and romantic, other times I want to feel untouchable. Fashion helps me embody all of those versions of myself.

Q: From your perspective, what makes someone’s style truly stand out?

A: What makes someone’s style stand out is authenticity. It’s not really about how expensive something is or whether it’s trending. It’s about whether the person is wearing it, or whether the outfit is wearing them. The people with the best style are the ones who look comfortable in their choices, who understand themselves, and who aren’t afraid to be remembered. Confidence, intention, and personality always stand out more than the clothes alone.

Q: For people discovering their own style, what advice would you give them about dressing with confidence?

A: I’d say stop dressing for approval and start dressing for recognition - and I mean your own recognition of yourself. Pay attention to the outfits that make you feel the most alive, the most attractive, the most you. Confidence doesn’t come from following every rule; it comes from trusting your instincts. Style is supposed to be discovered through play, trial, and self-expression. Give yourself permission to experiment, repeat what works, and let your wardrobe grow with you. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to walk into every room with your head held up high because you know you look good.

As the digital fashion landscape continues to evolve, voices like Sofi The Odditty’s are shaping what comes next - not by following rules, but by rewriting them. Her nomination for Top Fashion Creator is more than a moment - it’s a reflection of a generation that understands style as identity, storytelling, and power. And in that space, Sofi isn’t just participating - she’s defining it.
